Im addicted

I have a confession. I am addicted. I’m addicted to coloring my hair. I have cracked under pressure of wanting to do something different. I colored my hair on 4/16/09. I know I said that I wasn’t going to color my hair anymore because it is soooooo drying and make the ends of the lock bunch, and over time the color makes them weak and brittle. I NEED to do something different, and since I’m style challenged this is the next best thing that I can think of to do something different with my hair without going broke going to a salon to get a style that I will take out a week later. I even though about cutting it a little just to even out some, but I will resist that urge until my hair is long enough for me to cut it all the same length, or at least that’s what I’m saying now. A lot of people have suggested curling my hair, or the braid out, and so fourth. I personally don’t like my hair curled or crinkly, so those ideas are out.

So what I have decided to do to curb the dryness that occurs when coloring the hair, I planned on using Pantene conditioner with the women of color. I use this on my kids hair and it works great. I also started using. I bought a bottle of it when I was at the hair show here in Atlanta. I works great my hair is soooo soft, and I can feel the moisture that it holds and its not sticky, greasy, or cakey. So for now I think its safe to say that I have found a product that I can use in my hair when ever I color it. Its not something I would use everyday though. Since I have given in to the temptation of coloring my hair. My question now is how often should I color it? I’m thinking every 6 months I think that’s a good amount of time to let the hair recoup before putting chemical in it again. Any suggestions?

Actually if you are changing from chemical to henna or vise versa, you are advised to wait 2months before changing, so your hair doesn't get damaged.

I chemically coloured my hair blonde a week before my installation and didnt colour again for 5 months this time using Henna. Still got plenty of healthy soft locks on my head.

Goes without saying do your research and you're good to go whatever decision you make!

Good luck.

I love color too, but I stick to demi-permanents. Clairol natural instincts is great! Colors with minimal damage. Black Earth products are great! I use the shampoo and conditioner.

I like the color, but I am scared my hair will fall out. Are you going to stick with the same color or try a new color?

Avartsy, I will continue to use Dark and Lovely. It has not damaged my hair as of yet. Oh and the ingredients of the Taliah Waajid are: pure distilled water, Wheat germ, Indian Hemp, Olive oil, Balsam, Aloe vera, Bee Pollen, Silk Protein, Bay Laurel, Fruit Bio Flavonids, Ancient African Herbal Formula. I hope that helps.

Kittylocks, thats for the nomination. :)

Nique, I think I will stick with the same color, maybe over time I will get a slightly darker color. When ever you decide to color your hair just make sure that your hair is fully locked, if not you will have alot of bunching on the ends. I have alot of them and I swear I was to cut them off. Also make sure that you have, and use LOTS!! of conditioner color does dry the hair out.
