Patience is a virtue

Alright I think I need a dose of just have some dang patience because the ends of my hair… still loose. They have not sealed up knotted up or done anything they are just there. I have a few things that could contribute to why they could still be loose, ie I just colored my hair, and washing my hair every week, I just would like to know from those who have braidlocs did your ends ever seal, and how long it take. Did you end up cutting the loose ends off? Did you put knots at the ends? Or do I just need to accept that this is apart of what my hair is going to do.

Hey I don't have braid locks however I just visited my loctician and we discussed that. She told me that was the reason for requesting that I don't shampoo that often, and that cutting it doesn't help seal the ends. There is sisterlock starter shampoo which is actually for that purpose, so maybe you can get some and try to see if it helps you. Your hair is beautiful!

I have sisterlocks and my consultant and I have discussed my impatience w/my ends being opened. I have a few sealed ends, but she told me that due to the texture of my hair, I may not ever have all my ends sealed. So I am just trying to be patient, after 16 months that is all I can do.

I’m coming to realize that my hair might not ever seal especially in the front, and I have to be alright with that (which I am), or just be upset all the time about something I cant fix.

Hi, I've had braidlocs for 9 months now..my ends started to seal around 5 months, but I still have plenty of "curly q's", yep I think your best bet is to accept them, I think it gives them character. BTW I really like your hair.

Wow, your loose ends look very similar to mine (
Check it out here
). My loctician over at Johadeni Nappi in St. Petersburg, FL says that for the most part it's due to my hair texture. It took her SL's a very long time (I believe over a year) to lock up, but it did. And mine will eventually loc as well. In the meantime, I am taking her advice and I am going to enjoy the entire process each step of the way :D !

Hello my braidlocs sista! I have curly ends especially in the front and sides because I have a looser curl pattern than the back which is loc'n a lot faster. I think that's just the way it's going to be until you decide to cut all of the braided portion off (right where your hair began to loc). I plan to do that but it will be a long time from now. Until then I will enjoy them, they actually add a lit' somtin extra to my locs. It's easy to become impatient especially when you see others whose locs have matured but they had to go through what we are going through right now. Chin up your locs are devine...curly ends and all.

I don't have a blogger account, but I do frequent blogs in the locked hair blog exchange (especially this one)---maybe one day I'll join. I've been natural this time around since Oct 2001. I started with micro two-strand twists and maintain by using a micro nappylocs tool. I had planned to braidlock, but already had the micro twists in when my husband gave me the go ahead to lock it up on my birthday back in June. Yes, I'm one of those women. It didn't make sense to me to take them down at that point.

Anyway, I just want to know what you all do to your ends. I've been at this since May, and sometimes find myself re-twisting the ends. I'm thinking that added manipulation is probably not the best thing to do. I'm 6 months pregnant, so my hair is growing quickly and the nappyloc part is quickly overtaking the loose ends. I try to space out my maintenance, but find myself doing it every 2-3 weeks to keep the roots from taking over.

Do you just leave the ends as they are, use some gel, palm roll or what? I'm going to stop working in a couple weeks and was thinking about redoing all of them using the nappyloc tool to try to decrease the loose end issue, but I like the ideal of coping with loose ends as you all are doing much better. Plus it does look cute.

I don’t do anything to my ends really. I have noticed that just about all of the braided parts have come out and some have started to knot up and do their own thing and other (like the ones on top of my head) are just loose. When my hair gets past my shoulders (if I can be that patient, I want to wait until I can cut them evenly) I think I will cut them off. I can clearly see the difference from where the braid stops and my nappyloc maintenance takes place so it will be easy for me when I cut the braided part/loose ends off. Every now and then when the loose ones get on my nerve enough I braid it back again but it comes right back out. Since I have a plan on what I’m going to do I don’t really think about it but fix it and go.
